Hi Ermine! Welcome to the present day :) I am really glad you like the story so far. I had a quick look at your blog but the only Finnish I can remember (it is in Finnish right? otherwise the rest of this comment is going to sound pretty dumb :) from when I travelled there is Kiitos and Kippis (it looked like a good blog though :). So Kiitos for the complements!

With regard to the ships, a lot of the families are still living there (although they have a lot more space now). Basically, the ones who have moved out are either the most important families and their servants or the farmers and farmhands who have built houses.

Let me see, of the families we know those who are still living on the ship are:

The Arwaduhns - Cordell, Lisbet and Eidel
The Hwratars - Morven, Alexis, Colthan and Riandur (and snowflake of course :)
The Inbars - Varda and Sigurd
The Earl and Countess - Valeriya and Radomir although they are living in separate rooms. They would have been moved into a room in the castle if they were together in the same room, since they are the next high ranking but Cindra and Garrick got that room instead now. Radomir also was offered to have the room first but he didn't want to be far away from Valeriya who would still have been on the ship.

Igrayne and Maire share a room on the ship.
And lekha and Rasmus (although we haven't seen them much) are living on one of the ships too.

I think that's everyone. More people will be moved out as more space is made in the castle and more houses are built, but probably not till after winter now.

Arran has in fact, just turned 20 on October the 31st when the birthday dinner madness ensued. So, technically by medieval standards he isn't exactly a boy, though he has extremely boyish features. But, as you said, he projects a certain hapless boyishness and Noah thinks of him as a boy though he is actually only 9 years older than him.

It isn't the best of times for love... even the next chapter is going to be along those lines. Poor Mhalwaeans. Don't worry though, there are plans for love on the horizon.

Wohoo, I caught this! :D It wasn't even hard, I almost gobbled your story. It is aaaaaawesome! ;D I was all the time on my toes, 'cause I never knew what was waiting around the corner.
I have one question too: is there still someone who lives in ships? From families we know? :3

Anyway, I can't wait next chapters. :'D

Noah=WIN. What an all-around good guy :)

Poor Arran. I agree with Lothere, that mess with Igrayne must be sorted out. Between them and Garald and Nyawe, it's not really the best of times for love in Mhalwae, is it? :(

Noah! Noooo-ahhhh! Go tell Gena! Gena will talk to Igrayne! Igrayne will admit the truth! We'll get this all figured out! It isn't too late!

I loved the parts with the piggies at the beginning. "If we’re eatin’ the blighters I mean." :-D

And I just love Noah all the time. And Arran too, poor guy.

How old is Arran? Noah keeps calling him "the boy" but I was thinking Arran was in his twenties at least. Of course Noah might just be speaking relatively. Or maybe Arran just projects hapless boyishness!
