Thank you so much for that Lothere! I really appreciate you sharing so much information with me. I don't know if I would ever have got my blog up and running without all your advice :) You are a guru!

I'm going to put a stretch-factor calculator up on my site later (err, once I program it) but here are a few. These are assuming an adult height of 5'7.5" (umm 171 cm, it's too early for metric), which I consider "average" (i.e. stretch factor of 1). If the adult is shorter or taller I just vary the stretch factor according to the same ratio.

By visual inspection of toddler Sims standing next to adults, I assumed a toddler with stretch factor of 1 is 34" tall, which happens to be the 50th percentile for 2-year-old kids (in the States), so that means anything under 2 is going to have a factor less than 1 (unless he's going to be tall when he grows up).

Girls:
8 months, 2'4.2", 0.8308
12 months, 2'6.2", 0.8888
18 months, 2'8.9", 0.9682
24 months, 2'10.8", 1.0221

Boys:
8 months, 2'3.3", 0.8026
12 months, 2'5.2", 0.8593
18 months, 2'7.6", 0.9303
24 months, 2'9.0", 0.9714

The difference between girls and boys is slightly due to their different growth rates, but mostly due to the fact that 5'7.5" is considered average overall, but the average man is about 5'9" and the average woman is about 5'6", so the 5'7.5" average is a slightly short man or a slightly tall woman.

I should warn you that 0.8 is serious stumpville.

Can I ask waht stretch factor you usually apply to make them all stumpy?

I think Aisling ends up more with Darina's nose than Engin's. It is definitely an interesting nose though :) It looks more like Engin's now though. Maybe the tip is more like Engin's and the straightness is more Darina's.

Leia was actually the first baby I aged up before the age of 1. She was 7 months and a few weeks old when we first saw her as a toddler. That 1 year of babyhood was a hold-over from my actual RKC days.

But I do apply a stretch ratio to toddlers so 7-month old babies are quite small. It makes some of the animations weird, but they're so cute when they're such little stubby-legged things, with the short baby hair on their heads.

I usually don't have a problem with waiting, but I am dying to age Liadan up. I can't believe she's only three months old. Maybe it's because time has practically ceased to advance in the valley.

I'm glad Aisling turns out to have an interesting face (they don't all have to be classically beautiful after all). I was looking at her parents again and I can't actually even be sure she gets her nose from her dad and not Darina. I would need to see more angles. (And her grown-up face.) But I think it's cool she will be so distinctive-looking.

I forgot how ambitious Darina is, too, so I'm sure the ear thing is a real blow to her.

Oh right! I haven't mentioned anything about the ears here. I was asking frantically on Lothere's forum if anybody knew how to fix the ears. Basically, what happened Mao, was when I aged Aisling up this time I realised that for some crazy reason, she has elf ears. And of course, the problem with ears is that you are pretty much stuck with them if you want to keep the face and I do, because I have grown to really like Aisling's face (she grows into it a lot and looks rather interesting). I didn't notice the problem when I aged her up before (I always do that to see what the babies will look like when they grow up) because she had long hair. And when she becomes an adult she has normal ears. How weird is that? So I had to work it into the story some how and this is the beginning of it. It is going to be harder to explain why they disappear later but that is so far into the future who knows what will be happening then so I'm not too worried.

Engin is so in adoring father mode which I wasn't expecting at all. I had other plans for him but he has gone and changed them by being a really sweet dad. Darina cares about Aisling, but she isn't very good at showing it and she does see this ear development as a hinderance for any plans she might have for Aisling's future. She is also worried about how people will treat her. She actually ends up with quite a nice mix of their faces and I really like the way she looks though it is definitely not typical pretty or anything like it.

I had decided to age them up at 6 months because I read that they start to sit up between 6 and 9 months and I was sort of desperate to age some of them up. But I think I might have aged Kendrick up a bit early since he is just 6 months. I was going to ask you when you started aging them up actually, but then I went back and checked the timing between when Leia was born and when she became a toddler and I thought it was about right. I think I will probably aged them up at 7 months in the future. But it is so hard to wait!

I never thought I would find Engin to be sweet! He was so cute with his baby girl... I really wonder what Hepsie was thinking about that. (And Darina. Jealous maybe?)

Darina does not seem like the type to have magical anything in her background! She seems quite upset over what happened to her cousin, but I didn't get the same feelings of protectiveness as I did from Engin. I don't think she is in the same "She's beautiful just the way she is" mode as Engin. But maybe that's because she knows how tough life is going to be for her. On an island with scary and inexplicable things happening, Aisling may end up getting some of the blame, I fear.

I had to check out the baby pictures... there are quite a few I haven't seen. But I really wanted to see Aisling after these glimpses of her here. Sure enough, while she may not have her dad's silly smile, she seems to have the rest of his face! Poor girl.

Out of curiosity, at what age do you decide to age up your babies to toddlers? I have been doing that around 7-8 months since that's about the time they can start sitting up by themselves. But it looks like you have been doing it younger.

Oooh, Aisling's ears! Were they mentioned before and I just forgot about them over time? It seems they run in the family, too. How very curious! I wonder what mystery is hiding in this past of Darina's...

It was a great post. I loved the interactions between Aisling and Engin. He always seems such a sod and then you show him like this. It makes him a little less of a bugger. I also liked how true-to-life the little father/daughter exchanges were. And, of course, it's always a treat to see Hepsie!

If you want to see a little more of Aisling I have updated the pics of her and Kendrick in the character's ages page. I am going to keep updating there every so often, so check back and you might get sneak previews of new babies or aging up toddlers :)
