I like to think Igrayne is brave rather than stupid. She was clever enough to understand why they were asking her. She also has faith that Lochan and the other men will protect her. She sort of wrote this for herself, she was looking all worried and then when he told her she puts in this fake joking bravado to try and cover up that she is still worried. I like her :) I also could never ask what Lochan is asking though. And he shouldn't really be the one having to... come on Eallair... it is your kingdom dude! Step up to the mark. But can you imagine poor flustered Eallair trying to ask something like this... he wouldn't really inspire the girl with confidence in their abilities to keep her safe would he. (as the Old Man would say) I am really surprised. I am think I am too far into the "No one has the right to ask another to give his life" school of thought to be OK with this. Obviously they think he's just a human serial killer type, and obviously they think they will be able to save her, but still. Lochan is never, never going to forgive himself if something happens to this girl. Maybe that is the curse of being a ruler, I don't know, but I'm sure glad I don't have to make that kind of decision. And that girl is really brave (or really stupid!). It was so sweet, though, that beginning part where he's happy just because he's so tired from taking care of his newborn daughter. :-) He's finally getting at least that much happiness.
