Eallair finds Madlenka

Eallair found Madlenka staring out towards the North, to the mountains of Mhalwae. Though the sky was menacing and the dark grey clouds looked fit to burst, Madlenka stood straight backed and unwavering. The wind tore at her skirts and her thick red hair but she showed no sign of noticing the cold.

Eallair found her staring out towards the North

“Madlenka, I’ve been looking everywhere for you, the men said you had left the ships and walked towards the mountains… I was worried you had gotten lost”, Eallair said, unable to keep the concern from his voice, “Are you alright?”

Madlenka turned away

Madlenka turned away from so he could not see the distress on her face. She hated for him to see her like this. She always felt so weak and powerless when she was upset. Madlenka had never been good at hiding her feelings, a trait she now thought did not suit a Queen. One had only to glance at her face to decipher her every mood. And she did not want Eallair to see her like this. She did not want to bother him with her fears and worries right now when she knew he was under so much pressure.

“Madlenka, have I done something wrong?”, he asked, his voice pleading, “Because if I have can you please tell me… I can’t think of anything that I’ve done recently, but if you let me know I’m sure I can at least try and make it better”.

She spun around shocked that he thought she was angry at him, before realising that her despair was now visible to him.

She spun around shocked

“Why Madlenka darling, whatever is the matter?”, he cried surprised by her appearance. The way her little mouth turned down at the corners and was trembling distressed him greatly.

He grasped both her hands in his. They were freezing cold from the wind and he rubbed them gently to warm them.

He grasped both her hands

“Please tell me, I’m sure I can make it better”.

Madlenka smiled weakly at him, she would tell him what was wrong if only she could determine it herself. She just felt like there was a huge weight pressing down on her, suffocating her and she could not escape. The air was thick with humidity and she could not get enough air. She took a deep breath trying to dispel the thought of suffocation and felt nauseous, which only served to remind her of her lack of a certain desired sickness. Her thoughts turned inwards to her womb. She felt as though it had dried up inside of her and she would never produce an heir. She felt panicky at the thought and took another deep breath.

Eallair was still looking at her, concerned.

“I don’t know what’s the matter love”, she said, “I guess there is just something about this place that is making me feel uneasy”. She didn’t mention her worry about her fertility. She knew he was worried too and talking about it would not make things better.

“Darling, there is nothing wrong with this place”, he told her, “You’re probably just feeling bad because of the coming storm, the air out here is getting a bit oppressive”.

Oh is that the first drops of rain

“Oh… is that the first drops of rain I feel”, he said releasing her hands and looking skyward. “I think we should go inside Maddy before you get your lovely dress all wet. Maybe we can find some way to warm up those cold hands of yours too”, he winked at her and drew her in for a kiss.

He drew her in for a kiss

She did feel a bit better with his warm hand on her back and his familiar lips on hers. He reached a hand up and stroked her face and she smiled and pushed her worries aside to be looked at later, “Yes lets go inside before the rain comes”.

She smiled and pushed her worries aside

Hey anyone reading this. I am having a bit of trouble with the quality of the pictures as you might have noticed… it seems that the window is resizing them so they don’t look as good. Do any of you other bloggers have a solution to this, since everyone’s elses images look fantastic? I am a bit new to this whole thing so I guess it is going to be a bit of a learning curve, I hope you don’t mind coming along for the ride with me =). My boyfriend said maybe I could resize them in photoshop. Is that what everyone else does? Or is there an easier way?

I crop and then resize in Photoshop. That will keep them from getting distorted. :)

Madlenka is so lovely! I adore her dress. I can’t wait to see what’s so funky about this island.

Thanks heaps Mao… I will try that out… I have been getting so annoyed with the fuzzy edges =(.

I really love that dress too… actually I am so happy with Madlenka… I love the hairdo and the eyes too. I have to say I have a bit of a thing for making sims with red hair and green eyes (maybe it’s just cause I wish I had that =).

I was haveing the same problem with the pictures in my blog. I was too lazy to resize them in photoshop even though I know how ;)

I simply take all my pictures at the medium size in the game so I don’t have to resize. They come out at 300×400 pixels in size, which is actually a little smaller than what they are being resized to above. It probably wouldn’t be resized in the browser if they’re slightly too small, but I don’t know how WordPress handles that, since I put my images in manually. But if it’s not important to you to have the ability to click on the image to get the full size, you might just try that.

As far as resizing the images, there are lots of free tools that let you resize images without opening them one-by-one in an editor. Some are as easy as a right-click in Windows Explorer and resize. (If you’re using Windows, that is.) So you can select a whole bunch of images and resize all at once. Just search “image resizing tool” in Google and you’ll get a ton.

I know what you mean Carrie… it seems like such an effort to resize all the pictures.

Thanks for the advice Lothere… it sounds like maybe both me and Carrie could use an easy fix for the images (although I really think Carrie’s images look wonderful so maybe I am just being too pedantic about mine… then again all your images are so detailed and well set out Carrie, with so much happening so you really can’t tell you haven’t resized them). I hadn’t even thought about just taking the medium sized images instead =). I guess it would prolly work fine on this page but I will do some tests and check. Unfortunately I have taken a whole lot of pictures for future posts already so I will check out google and see if I can find one of these easy resizing tools.

Have you tried taking them with Printscreen instead of in game? The picture quality when you take them with printscreen is like a thousand and twelve times better. But you have to minimize your window after each picture and paste it into a photoshop program, cause you can only printscreen one pic at a time and then then next time you hit printscreen it replaces it with another pic…kind of complicated but great pictures!

  8. Verity says:

No I haven’t tried that Tiana. Wow… it seems like a lot of effort though. Is that what you do? You are one seriously dedicated storyteller :) . I can’t wait to see what your making! You’ll find the pics get better soonish because I started using picasa to resize. I think my game takes so long to load after I switch to desktop I would never get to write my blog at all… do you have a super-fast compy? Thanks for the advice tho… if I ever need some really high quality pics now I’ll know how to get them :) .

  9. Tiana says:

Yeah I just redid my whole computer and when I told the guy what I wanted, custom parts wise, I said, “I want to be able to run the Sims 2 VERY VERY well.” Once I got them he said, “You’ll be able to run the Sims on its highest settings, twice at the same time” That might have been exaggerated on his part but it does run very nicely. And I just wait until I have the perfect shot so I don’t have to exit and save all the time. I’m trying to get my story up as fast as I can but it takes so long to build sets!

Hehe… yeah I have to admit that may be the one requirement I have for our desktop compy… it has to be able to run the sims really well. Not as well as yours tho obviously :) but it does a pretty good job. My poor boyfriend… since I moved in with him I have pretty much totally taken over his desktop for sims use… oh well he has his laptop (which he is pretty much umbilicalled to since he is a computer scientist) so he is happy.
