The Church

Father Harndall had been entrusted with the souls of the exiles. He was very young, but the older priests had chosen to remain in the city and do what they could to comfort the survivors. There would be many who would turn to the lord in this time of need. They had agreed that Harndall would accompany the exiles. He may not have been experienced but he was kind and wise for his years, and the people trusted him.

He was young but kind

Sister Mella had been the sole survivor of the Mistril Abbey. Faldorn’s troops had rampaged through the building leaving death and suffering in their wake. They had done unspeakable things to the women who lived their days amidst the quiet cloisters and tried make a peaceful existence for themselves. Mella had only been spared by hiding in the crypt below the cathedral. She spent two days down there with the decaying corpses, listening to the screaming, emerging from the dark to find the bodies of her sisters all around her. She had not spoken a word since.

Everyone else had been killed

Father Harndall had discovered her, sitting among the bodies flithy from the blood and grime when the brothers from the nearby monastery had looked for survivors. The monastery had been well hidden in the hills and Faldorn’s men had not found them there. After the surrender the massacare had ended and the slavery of their people had begun. Since he had found Mella she had not left his side and the monks had conceded that she go with him into exile.

His heart ached for her

His heart ached for this poor woman who had seen such terrible things. He wished he could do something but Mella was in a place unreachable to him. As he stood beside her looking out to Mhalwae he could not see her face but her body trembled like a leaf. He started to pray for them, the best form of comfort he could give.

    A belated Merry Christmas everyone!

And this is also the last of the introductory posts… now the story actually begins… hurrah!

  2. Sydonie says:

    Hurrah!
About sister Mella…what comfort will she find but in the arms of a brother? I wonder when she will turn to him.

Is it wrong to notice that those are two rather attractive young people you have thrown together there? I wouldn’t be surprised if one or both of them notices it before long…

  4. Verity says:

Hmmm… I guess they are both rather attractive… heh although my boyfriend recently pointed out to me how much Harndall resembles a certain famous religious figure. Don’t worry… he won’t be doing any walking on water in the near future… and unfortunately for the other men he won’t be turning water into wine (I’m sure they will be very disappointed).

There is a lot in store for Mella in the future but that is all I can say right now *mysterious smile*.

haha I had the same thought as Lothere. Of course, I’m always seeing possible romantic tension where there most likely is none. Wishful thinking on my part, I suppose. I’m a hopeless romantic and love happy endings (after putting the characters through hell, of course *wink*).

  6. Aithne says:

I didn’t notice Harndall’s resemblance until now. :P I just thought of a wonderful storyline, but a tragic one: Mella would fall in love, get pregnant, and be rudely dumped by the guy.

But you have all married couples who seem rather devoted or not the type to impugn the honour of a nun, so probably not.

I always have a hard time making villains out of my Sims, because I’m too attached to them. It doesn’t help that I’m so obsessive about ugliness my Sims look like one big happy family; everyone looks so alike, if I made a story, nobody would catch the resemblance of an illegitimate child to some likely person.

  7. Verity says:

I know what you mean about making villains. In RL a think that most people have at least some good in them, so I usually try and reflect that in my sims or at least give some kind of reasoning for why they are the way they are. So yeah… it’s a bit hard to have the totally evil thing =).

I most definitely have big plans for Mella but you will have to wait and see =).

  8. Tiana says:

Lol thats the first thing I thought when I saw him…whoa its Jesus!

  9. Verity says:

Yeah Tiana… I’m thinking about changing the hair a bit. He is a little bit too Jesusey… I think it is sort of silly to have a priest who looks like Jesus but I guess it seems to be the idea of religion I have gotten into my head. I wish I could have made a Brude. Lothere makes the hottest sims :) .

  10. Yicke says:

I’m following that idea here Lothere!

I wonder what will happen over time. Even though people can stick to vows very well…

    Off to read more!

    (Joining the conversation late here.)

My first incarnation of Aelfden had a full beard and that same hair, too. And yup, I said to myself, looks too much like Jesus. How ethnocentric are we? :-D

  12. Verity says:

Hey Yicke! Welcome to Mhalwae… great to see you here :)

Yeah I reckon Lothere… at least you realised he looked too much like Jesus hadn’t introduced him looking like that :) Maybe sometime I will give him a different look… but I have tried some other hairdos and it just doesn’t work as well. He just look so… benevolent like this :D

My goodness. These two are gorgeous. I like your default skins, and I think you have different defaults for eyes, too? They’re not as flat as the Maxis ones. Either that, or you have really awesome pic taking and lighting mods.
